The Global Governance Institute is an independent, non-profit think tank based in Brussels. Its mission is the advancement of research, education and policy advice addressing global challenges in peace and security, democracy and human rights, global economic governance, environmental governance, and the cross-cutting priority of global education and innovation.
Through its Global Education unit, GGI engages in research, training and policy advice that support the transformation of higher education, with particular emphasis on the European Education Area and international cooperation in teaching and learning. GGI served as the Secretariat of the European Network on Teaching Excellence, an initiative recognised as a 'Good Practice' by the European Commission, and will host ENLITE in Brussels beyond the funding period.
